It’s also, like most of Disney’s biggest animated films, a nice little movie, ruthlessly engineered to hit all the story beats, teach all the right lessons, and get outta there before the kids get restless. It is, like all of Disney’s biggest animated films, a product already so heavily marketed that kids in my audience shouted “Baymax!” at the screen, before the character had introduced himself or even said a word. The first animated film from the now Disney-owned Marvel Studios, it is a kind of gateway drug for kids who may not care about comics but who are dying to be old enough to watch The Avengers. ![]() With a word-salad title and a shiny, plasticky look indistinguishable from so may recent animated releases, Big Hero 6 looks like it may as well be called Generic Supehero Movie for Kids.
